I’m working for an environmental consulting company in Bali, who praises themselves as being a think- and do-tank. My experiences have been exciting! Learning about sustainable coffee farming, rainwater harvesting, bioenergy solutions for poor farmers, microfinance solutions, and many more topics concerning environmental issues in Indonesia. Loving the multicultural and interdisciplinary work with my colleagues here! On the weekends, I usually look for a volcano to climb. Good times! Thanks IAESTE!”

The internship opportunity I had with Universitas Atma Jaya Yogyakarta was a great chance for learning and professional development. Therefore, I consider myself as a very lucky individual as I was provided with an opportunity to be a part of it. I am also grateful for having a chance to meet so many amazing people who led me though this internship period. This is my first time in Indonesia, I had so much fun here. I had participated in many activities such as short course program, cultural center of Cultural and Language Training in Universitas Atma Jaya Yogyakarta.
The main reason, why I chose to come to Indonesia was to see and live in a completely different culture and to get some knowledge about these cultures, people and livings. At my university that I had internship, I had a starting course in the first semester to get to know the university and students. In many courses I met a lot of students who interested in my culture, we had exchanged and shared how difference between our cultures. The people in the institute were very friendly and welcoming and within the first week I have already found several colleagues who showed me around the city. There were also several excursions organized and paid for by the University. On one of those excursions I and the IAESTE Indonesia staffs went to Dieng plateau, Indonesia. The place is a great place to visit. The people are very nice and especially the countryside is astonishingly beautiful. This trip is the first trip that I met many students, who went on an internship in countries all over the world. We got to know each other and spent time together in this trip, they told me about their experiences and the organizations with whom they went.
We had a great friendship and big connection with all friends from different countries. In the end I can say I had a wonderful time in Indonesia, I learned many things about the Indonesian culture, people and also religions. I got a lot of new impressions and amazing experiences, which will last forever.Nevertheless I have to say that this internship was one of the greatest experiences in my life, thanks to all the nice people in Universitas Atma Jaya Yogyakarta and the IAESTE Indonesia who made this for me all the uncountable memories that I will cherish for life. I really appreciate that there are organizations like IAESTE, who made this happen.
Thank you IAESTE!!!
